The Africa Distance University Project

“The Africa Distance University Project”, through which we explore the possibility to use blended modes of distance learning to reconstruct relations between leading universities in Africa and in the developed countries, in particular working on sustainable growth according to the UN Millennium Goals. Specifically, we are working on a course on the Education, Development and Manufacturing revolution with the Yaoundé Hight School of Economics and Management and the Institut Catholique de Bafoussam in Cameroon. This course will be diffused also in other emerging countries and, in particular, in Equatorial Africa and in Latin America countries. Currently, the activated courses are based on Economics and Business, and we collaborate with UNINETTUNO University.

Place-based Education for Regional Development in a Transforming World

“Place-based Education for Regional Development in a Transforming World” is a study on how place-based education can be extended at all education levels but especially the university level, so that the university's first mission could be better fulfilled and have a higher impact on regional development, and favor both the twin (digital and green) transition and the resolution of SDGs.

New ways to measure quality education systems

Starting from PISA data, we create a new education Performance Index (PI), based on the average students’ ability in reading, mathematics and sciences. Currently, the analysis focuses on the correlation and causality between the performance index and the 2030 SDGs, to understand through international data the role of education in achieving the UN Agenda Goals.

Big Data and Artificial Intelligence for the future development, Implications for Education and Human Resources

Within this field, as starting point, we are using big-dataset to develop an analysis of what Italian employers seek, especially in terms of competencies and education levels. The analysis is based on 62’080 online job postings investigated at regional, county, and municipality levels, to understand the trend among Italian territories. The applied techniques refer to Content Analysis, Multiple Linear Regression Model, and Cluster Analysis (both hierarchical and non-hierarchical). At the same time, we performed content analysis to understand the most-used keywords on the job posting.
