Animal Cognition and Behaviour
Short description of the research team
Thematic fields of interest/research areas: Animal Cognition and Behaviour.
Manager/head of the team:Tyrone LUCON XICCATO
Team members: Elena FRIGATO, Cristiano BERTOLUCCI, Giulia MONTALBANO
Research infrastructures:
Our facilities are equipped for research on freshwater fish, including zebrafish and medaka, and invertebrates. A nearby station and field sites allow research on marine and brackish-water fish and amphibians. The laboratory is provided with set-ups to study social and sexual interactions, personality (exploration, scototaxis, boldness, neophilia), spatial learning, memory, visual discrimination learning, inhibitory control, olfactory learning and problem solving. Furthermore, we have laboratories equipped for molecular biology, cell culture, and microscopy to investigate the molecular bases of behaviour..
