Training objectives
- Knowledge of History of Pharmacy: historical development of pharmaceutical science, profession and drug over time.
Knowledge of the history of the profession and of the pharmaceutical heritage.
Knowledge of principles and scientific methodology applied to pharmaceutical sciences, including the history and the social function of the pharmacy. Prerequisites
- The course is designed for students of the second and fourth year .
It can be addressed without difficulty also by students of the second year . Course programme
- The history of pharmacy.
- The genesis of drugs, from the plants to the molecules.
- The galenicals: from the theriac to the Codex fofi.
- The book: Dall''Hortus sanitatis alle moderne farmacopee.
- Antonio Campana.
- The Ferrarese Pharmacopoeias of Nigrisoli and Campana.
- The treatment of plague, tuberculosis, cholera, syphylis and malaria in Ferrara.
- 18th century Navarra-Bragliani pharmacy.
- Particular aspects of the history of pharmacy seen by an expert from the humanistic side.

- The course will be delivered through theoretical lessons aimed at exposing and explaining the contents of the program, integrated with practical examples, case studies, exercises and moments of study.
Learning assessment procedures
- Oral examination.Oral examination. The aim of exam is to verify al which level the learning objectives previously described have been acquired. The examination is oral.
