Training objectives
- The course consists of two parts
- the first one is finalized to give the base knowledge of the monitoring of the territory and of the monitoring of the buildings, in terms of techniques of surveying of the movements and the deformations.
- - The second relates to the techniques of modern digital surveying and 3D virtual modeling of buildings and cultural heritage Prerequisites
- Basic knowledge of surveying
Course programme
- In the first part are discussed and analyzed the methods of measurement and calculation, direct and indirect, intended to determine the movements and deformations of the ground and buildings (30 hours). Moreover some important applications related to real cases are discussed (10 hours).
The course also instrumental recalls and recall some modern measurement techniques, which will be framed within individual subjects (10 hours).
In the second part, later than a ¿¿brief mention on digital photogrammetry and laser scanning (20 hours). Is then carried out an exercise consisting in monitoring the deformations of an architectonical complex and surveying and 3D modeling of an important monument, using both the laser scanner and the photogrammetric technique ( 20 hours). Didactic methods
- The course includes lectures, classroom exercises, seminars and outdoor exercises.
For seminars are invited experts from different fields of geomatics who describe their most significant experiences.
The practical exercises involves the division of students into groups. Each group must carry out a substantial work in data acquisition and processing, both for monitoring and for the modeling of cultural heritage. At the end of the exercise is prepared a technical report group. Students can use measurement and calculation tools provided by the department. Learning assessment procedures
- Written exam: preparation of an intervention project on a building, an infrastructure or a cultural good. This intervention consists of the 3D object survey and deformation monitoring. Students have access to books, information material and can connect to the web during the examination. The maximum score reserved for the project is 20/30. The exam also includes the evaluation of the exercises elaborate . The latter consists of a technical report which describes and comments monitoring and surveying carried out by the students during the course. To the report is reserved a maximum score of 11/30. The final score is the sum of the two partial scores.
