Training objectives
- The aim of this course is to furnish information about the engines used by ayy type of aircraft. In this field the engines are the 'summa' of the most advanced technology in materials, aerodynamics, and controls.
The second part of the course, the most part, is dedicated to the control systems. The study considers the hydromechanical controls as well as the electronic controls.
Particular attention is payd to FADEC by studyng the concepts dealing with the applications also for maintenance aims. Prerequisites
- Knowledge of concepts of Gasdynamics applied to turbomachinery
Course programme
- Aeronautical engines.
Turbojet, turbofan, turboprop and turboshaft
Their working and their operative limits.
Evaluation of flight envelope and wrong working and dangerous situations.
Basics of engine controls.
Hydromechanical controls.
Electronic controls.
FADEC
Development by Simulink of simulation models of both engine and their control systems.
Development of Labview model for the study of control systems Didactic methods
- Direct lessons using the wide materials already at disposal. Numerical simulation using Simulink.
Learning assessment procedures
- Examination both by tests and interrogation (if necessary).
