Training objectives
- The course aims at providing knowledge and physical-mathematical and methodological tools for the analysis, the sizing, the operation and the optimization of energy conversion systems which exploit both fossil and renewable sources.
Prerequisites
- Knowledge provided in the courses of "Macchine" and “Sistemi Energetici” of the Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Course programme
- The course is composed of 60 hours of both classroom lectures and tutorials. The main topics developed in the course are:
1) Power plant management (2.5 hours)
2) Air pollutants from energy conversion systems (5 hours)
3) Environmental impact of gas turbine and combined cycle power plants (7.5 hours)
4) CHP energy systems for distributed generation (15 hours)
5) Feasibility analysis of a CHP plant for industrial users (30 hours) Didactic methods
- The course is composed of 60 hours, equally split into classroom lectures and tutorials.
Learning assessment procedures
- The exam aims at checking the level of achievement of the previously mentioned didactic goals.
To pass the exam, a candidate has to exhibit basic knowledge on all course subjects; the mark (in the range from 18 to 30) depends on the understanding and rigorousness about course topics. Reference texts
