Training objectives
- At the end of the course, the student knows the results of classical mechanics and the basic notions of analytical mechanics. He is able to use this knowledge to study the motion and equilibrium of rigid body systems.
Prerequisites
- For a profitable use of the Course, the following knowledge is required:
Linear algebra, analytical geometry, differential and integral calculus in one variable, the basics of differential calculus in several variables, and of ordinary differential equations. Course programme
- 1) Vector calculus.
2) Kinematics of the point.
3) Kinematics of material systems.
4) Kinematics of relative motions.
5) Static and dynamics of the point.
6) Statics and dynamics of the constrained material point.
7) Geometry of the Masses.
8) Statics and dynamics of material systems.
9) Analytical Mechanics. Didactic methods
- The teaching usually consists of lectures on blackboard, providing formal details and proper discussion of the subject. Interventions and questions from the students are welcomed and encouraged. Exercise-dedicated classes will be held, and attendance at them is recommended.
Lectures will be also streamed. The classroom code for the course is bqpscgp Learning assessment procedures
- The exam consists of:
- a written test.
- an oral exam, which can be accessed by those who have exceeded a minimum threshold in the outcome of the written 15/30.
There are 6 written tests during the year. Reference texts
