Training objectives

German Language III consists of two courses: Language study III, German Linguistics III

LANGUAGE STUDY:
Consolidation and further development of linguistic abilities acquired in the first two years; more differentiated aspects of German grammar. Reading and analysis of complex literary texts and press articles. Written and oral expression is moulded through this work of linguistic development and interpretation of the proposed extracts. Guided exercises of listening comprehension, composition, grammar and lexis, for homework, complete the didactic programme of the course. Teaching language: German. - Final objective: Level B2/C1 of the European Framework. (Preparation for the C1 certificate of the Goethe Institute)

GERMAN LINGUISTICS: Origin, spread and recent tendencies of the German language
The main objective of the course is the improvement of linguistic knowledge and communication skills aiming at the future professional life of the student.

Level B1/B2 of the European Framework

Course programme

LANGUAGE STUDY:
Literature of various periods (short stories, extracts from longer works, poetry) with relative linguistic analysis and interpretation; newspaper articles with reference to contemporary German culture; semantic research and lexical development ; exercises in written composition and oral discussion; further study of main grammar structures, introduction to the most complex areas of German grammar.

LINGUISTICS: Spread and recent tendencies of the German language
- Sociolinguistics (language variation, linguistic geography of German-speaking countries, substandards, spoken language).
- Rhetoric and communication: public speaking in German, communication models, nonverbal communication, criteria of clarity, speech delivery (beginning and conclusion, structure, use of visual aids). Analysis of public speeches: structure, argumentation, nonverbal language and rhetorical figures.

Didactic methods

Interactive and frontal lessons, student presentations, practical exercises.

- Written and oral exam
- Student presentation and written homework during the course work
