Training objectives
- The course is prepared to enable first-year students to be familiar with topics and themes regarding film history and aesthetics through an in-depth study of the works released by appraised and significant film directors
Students are expected to acquire a full knowledge of specific periods, of outstanding figures or of definite matters concerning the history of film, both classic and contemporary.
The students will be able to analyse cinematic works both in their structure and topic, and in their historical contexts. Prerequisites

Course programme
- THE CINEMA OF MARTIN SCORSESE
Students are due to prepare the syllabus referring to the academic year they have booked the course in their study plan, that is the year they have attended the classes. Nevertheless, if authorized by the professor, they may choose a different syllabus, provided that, by the time they take the exam, the classes for that course have ended. Didactic methods
- Lectures, supported by the use of Power Point presentations and the screening of film scenes.
Learning assessment procedures
- The final exam is oral, and lasts approximately 15-20 minutes. Students will be asked to reply to some questions (not more than 5) relating to the course topics. Questions may refer to the contents of the books (with indicated chapters) in the syllabus and – for those who have attended the classes – to the contents of the lessons. Students may also be asked about the ten films included in the film list.
