THERAPEUTIC EDUCATION IN PHYSIOTHERAPY
-Know the current scenario related to health problems relevant to therapeutic education.
-Know the rules and the principles that legitimize therapeutic education as an integral part of the health care and treatment.
-Know the educational function of the health professions (specifically role and scope of intervention of physiotherapist)
-Know the stages of therapeutic education
-Define therapeutic education goals and interventions in physiotherapy, that lead the person (with the possible collaboration of the care-giver) to change their behaviors and to independently and consciously take care of themselves.

RESEARCH STATISTICS
The module aims to: (1) provide theoretical and practical knowledge to understand and describe all types of epidemiological studies; (2) provide useful tools to allow the student to understand and explain the essential measures used in epidemiology.

The importance of affirmation of partnership and empowerment of the assisted patient
Features and specific aspects of therapeutic education in the field of physiotherapy.
Planning cycle of therapeutic education in the field of physiotherapy
Strategies and methods of therapeutic education in physiotherapy, tailored to the individual patient, groups and caregivers.

STATISTICS FOR RESEARCH
Methods and aims of epidemiology.
Characteristics of observational studies (ecological, cross-sectional, case-control, cohort) and experimental (randomized clinical trials).
Reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Bias and confounding.
Importance of the epidemiological method for research and health organization.
Descriptive epidemiological measures: rates and indicators.
Risk measures and cause-effect relationships, relative risk and absolute risk.
Statistical method, types of health outcomes and their distribution.
Descriptive statistics: measures of central tendency and variability.
Importance of statistical inference and sample size: point estimate, confidence intervals, p-value. Interpretation of the results of a clinical study

Learning assessment procedures

METHODOLOGY OF EDUCATIONAL PROCESSES
Preparation of a project in small groups, then plenary presentation. The evaluation is carried out on these parameters:
Contents: methodological correctness in the project - max 10 points .
Appropriateness of educational content - max 10 points.
Originality -max 6 points. Presentation - max 4 points
THERAPEUTIC EDUCATION IN PHYSIOTHERAPY
Oral examination. The student will present a part of the project developed in a group of students. The evaluation criteria are: the characteristics and specific elements of therapeutic education in physiotherapy, correctness, completeness and exposure.
RESEARCH STATISTICS
Written exam with multiple choice quiz. For each question, 1 to 4 correct answers are possible.
Weight average of the marks of the tests taken.
