Training objectives

KINESIOLOGY APPLIED TO PHYSIOTHERAPY
On completion of the course the student is expected to know how to:
-interpret the synergy between the various muscles required to carry out specific movements
TAPE AND KINESIOLOGY
The course aims to provide the student with skills in:
-theory of the functions and indications of functional bandage and KINESIOTAPE.
-correct application of the a functional bandage and KINESIOTAPE in the areas taught during the lessons

REHABILITATION OF THE HAND
The course aims to provide the student with a grounding in:
-the features of surgery of the hand and the relative pathologies.
-general overview on the application of different surgical techniques for various clinical pictures.
-detailed assessment of the hand in order to initiate treatment.
-methods and goals of post-operative physiotherapy for every main disorder of the hand.
-What can be done and to what intensity, after which type of surgery? This is the pivotal question to be treated during the lessons

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of anatomy and human physiology

Course programme

KINESIOLOGY APPLIED TO PHYSIOTHERAPY
-main muscles of the limbs and trunk.
-concept of fixed muscle, agonistics, antagonist/contraction, concentric/eccentric and isometric.
-Analysis of specific movements (bicycle/ running) in order to analyse the function of various muscles.

TAPE AND KINESIOLOGY
-the role of functional bandages in rehabilitation .
-indications and contraindications of the bandage.
-materials
-practical application exercises on the following joints: ankle, knee, shoulder, wrist; and muscular lesions
-the role of Kinesiotape in rehabilitation and its functions.
-indications and contraindications of the bandage.
-Materials
-examples and practical exercises on its application: techniques of articular stability. Techniques for laxity or lesions to the ligaments, muscular application.

REHABILITATION OF THE HAND
-Anatomy of the hand.
Evaluation from the point of view of rehabilitation, principles, aims and methods of rehabilitation of the hand. Fractures.
- Pathologies of the tendon. Compression of peripheral nerves. Lesions of peripheral nerves. Regional Pain Syndrome. Rheumatoid Arthritis.
- Stiffness and degenerative diseases

Learning assessment procedures

KINESIOLOGY APPLIED TO PHYSIOTHERAPY: The oral exam consists of 2 questions on topics covered in the course. For each response they are assigned max 15 points, depends on completeness, level of detail, clarity of the argumentation and manual skills. If the teacher is in doubt, he can propose another question.

TAPE AND KINESIOLOGY: The oral/practical exam consists of 2 questions, one on theoretical content and one on treatment techniques. For each response they are assigned max 15 points, depends on completeness, level of detail, clarity of the argumentation and manual skills. If the teacher is in doubt, he can propose another question.

REHABILITATION OF THE HAND: The oral/practical exam consists of 2 questions, one on theoretical content and one on treatment techniques. For each response they are assigned max 15 points, depends on completeness, level of detail, clarity of the argumentation and manual skills. If the teacher is in doubt, he can propose another question.

The final grade results from the weighted average of the partial ratings.
