Training objectives

PSYCHOLOGY OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR
Knowledge of basic cognitive processes (attention, consciousness, language, communication, intelligence, motivation, emotion) and the main theoretical orientations on the study of personality (biological, phenomenological, behavioural, socio-cognitive approach).
PSYCHOLOGY OF RELATIONSHIP
The student should know the general characteristics of interpersonal communication, be able to reconstruct the salient phases of the construction of a therapeutic relationship between physiotherapist and patient and know the psychological reactions of the person when faced with disabling pathological events.
Skills: To learn adequate and effective ways of observation, relationship and communication.

RELATIONSHIP AND MULTICULTURALISM
Knowledge: To know the contributions of general and medical anthropology and its connections, useful to the profession of physiotherapist.
To know the worlds of body experience, pain and suffering in different human contexts.
Skills: To acquire sensitivity and intercultural competence in the relationship.

Course programme

PSYCHOLOGY OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR
Definition of Development; The development of the biological perspective: anatomical and functional maturation of the CNS and foundations; development in the psychological perspective: psychogenic model and theory; development perspective in social representation and social cognition; Internal working models and motivational systems.
PSYCHOLOGY OF RELATIONSHIP
The principles of human communication: the model of Palo Alto. Verbal, not verbal and symbolic communication. The observation and the various types of observation: direct, participatory and . ethological. The body language. The nonverbal cues during the meeting with the patient. Why is it useful to be able to know the body language. What we communicate to the patient. The problem of transference in the therapeutic relationship: the feelings and emotions of the therapist and patient. The primary emotions: knowing how to recognize and manage the relationship with the patient.
RELATIONSHIP AND MULTICULTURALISM
The contributions of narrative medicine;
Epistemology of medical knowledge and epistemology of humanistic knowledge;
The contribution of Gregory Bateson;
The nature of medical scientific language;
Multi-literacy of health and well-being

Learning assessment procedures

PSYCHOLOGY OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR: The written exam consists of 23 multiple choice questions. Each correct question corresponds to 1.35 points. The honors will be given to those who get all the correct answers. The time available for the examination is 90 minutes.
PSYCHOLOGY OF RELATIONSHIP: The oral exam consists of three questions, one of which is chosen by the student. For each answer are awarded up to 10 points, depending on completeness, level of detail, clarity of argumentation, capacity of analysis and reasoning. If in doubt by the teacher, parties can be proposed another question.
RELATIONSHIP AND MULTICULTURALISM: The exam will take place in written form. The essay, or written reflection, will focus on one of the topics covered during the course. The test will take into account the following indicators: knowledge of the contents, logical coherence of argumentative exposure , linguistic accuracy. The evaluation will be expressed in thirtieths and will take into account the same indicators, each indicator will provide up to a maximum of 10 points.
The final grade results from the weighted average of the three partial ratings.
