Training objectives
- The purpose of Risk Management in healthcare is the reduction, using strategies and methodologies that minimize the risk of a possible error.
At the end of the course, the student will acquire basic knowledge on models and structures of clinical risk management and quality control of care in hospitals, residential and home facilities. Prerequisites
- Knowledge of the concept of health and disease, of complex health systems and their models of communication and therapeutic relationship; of the operative mechanisms of the care process and of the general concepts of ethics.
Course programme
- • Theoretical concepts on clinical risk,
• Epidemiological and regulatory data,
• Regional context of Veneto,
• Systemic approach to clinical risk and cultural and educational aspects,
• Adverse event errors and near misses,
• Audit risk assessment and improvement measures,
• Patient and healthcare professionals safety,
• Legal principles and guarantee position of healthcare professionals,
• Presentation of paradigmatic cases on aspects of health malpractice,
• Concepts on quality systems in healthcare,
• Institutional accreditation model in the Veneto regional context and accreditation models of excellence,
• Quality systems in nursing and code of ethics,
• Recommendations, guidelines and good health practices,
• Quality systems, nursing and tools for continuous improvement. Didactic methods
- Lectures, in-depth seminars on one or more topics of interest to students.
Paradigmatic clinical cases (also with judgments of merit and / or legitimacy) of health malpractice will be presented, treated and analyzed in an interactive plenary session. Learning assessment procedures
- Administration of a classroom case, the evaluation will take into greater account the ability to argue and deepen the case proposed and the way in which it is presented.
