GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY
The General Psychology course introduces the fundamental themes of the development of psychology as a science, with emphasis on content and methodological aspects in the investigation of psychological processes, and provides the historical foundations, basic concepts, and methodologies of scientific psychology through learning about the major experimental research. Major knowledge will cover psychology as a science of the human mind and behavior; the major schools of psychology; the experimental method applied to psychological research; and the major research areas of experimental psychology.
CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
On completion of the course the student is expected to have acquired skills in:
the main issues related to the psychological aspects of the different kinds of diseases in clinical contexts.

NURSE / PATIENT RELATIONSHIP
At the end of the module the student will identify the peculiarities of the relationship between the nurse and the person, his / her family and the community and will know how to choose the most suitable relationship modalities for the main contexts in which nursing care is provided, defining the different levels in nurse-assisted communication and the different roles, using communication models based on the situation he is facing.
TRANSCULTURAL NURSING
The course aims to provide the student with knowledge in transcultural and intercultural nursing as a response to cultural diversity and reorganisation of health services in relation to ethnic minority issues

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
Competences and intervention fields of Clinical Psychology. Clinical Method and its operative tools.
Verbal and nonverbal communication.
The helping relationship with the patient. Patient identity as object and subject of medical care.
Professional identity of the Nurse, abilities and interpersonal competences. Affective implications in the relationship with the patient.
The role of psychoanalysis
Somatic pain, Stress and Illness Behaviour
Psychic pain: anxiety, psychic conflict, deficit and defences. The origin of mental illness.
The inpatient. Models of doctor-patient relationship. “Difficult patients, “difficult relationships”.
Adolescent patient, patterns of psychological distress in adolescence and management of suicidal crisis.

The course includes 16 hours of face-to-face instruction. Course content is as follows: Historical Background; Research Methods in Psychology; Attention; Memory; Communication; Thinking, Reasoning, Judgment, and Decision Making. The course also includes classroom activities to be carried out individually or in small groups. The modalities and content of these activities will be clarified during the course.

- GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY
The objective of the examination is to verify the level of achievement of the training objectives previously indicated.
The exam is written and includes 3 open questions. Each answer will obtain a score ranging from 0 to 10. The exam will take place in the computer room and will be divided into rounds. You must acquire at least 18/30 to pass the test. You may request an oral supplement if you pass the written. The time allotted for the test is 30 minutes.
CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
Multiple choice test. 15 questions. Two points for each correct answer 0 points for incorrect answers. Allotted time: 1 hour.
NURSE / PATIENT RELATIONSHIP:
Drafting of an individual term paper, whose mandate and method of development is defined by the teacher.
TRANSCULTURAL NURSING
Group work: presentation of a proposal regarding the theme of reception or a plan regarding education on therapy or health (persons affected by infectious diseases, diabetes, blood diseases)
