Modulo: 005987 - CHIRURGIA GENERALE

At the end of the course the student will be able to:
- assist the person who has to undergo general surgery in the perioperative phases
- to guarantee pain relief in the assisted person
- guarantee the correct application of therapeutic prescriptions regarding the dressing of the surgical wound and drainages
- guarantee the safety of the assisted person in the prevention of the main surgical complications;
- educate the person undergoing surgery to the new therapeutic regimen at the time of discharge.
LOCOMOTOR DISEASES
The course aims to provide theoretical and practical knowledge relating to the main Orthopedic (with particular reference to joint degenerative diseases) and Traumatological pathologies.
At the end of the course the student will have to be able to indicate the clinical and instrumental priorities for the purpose of a correct diagnosis through anamnesis, semeiology and instrumental diagnostics.
The student must also know the main types of treatment of these pathologies.

GENERAL SURGERY
Epidemiology, etiology and risk factors; paintings anatomical - clinical, staging, diagnosis, surgical treatment and possible complications of cancer of the breast, colon, lung, stomach, pancreas and bladder.
Diseases of the skin and subcutaneous melanoma; diseases of the arteries and veins; diseases of the thyroid and parathyroid glands; diseases of the mediastinum, diaphragm and esophagus; abdominal hernias: inguinal hernias, femoral hernias, umbilical hernias, hernias of the linea alba hernia or postoperative incisional hernias; diseases of the duodenum: duodenal deformities, traumatic injuries, duodenitis, peptic ulcer duodenal; diseases of the small intestine rectum and anus;
diseases of the liver and biliary tract: jaundice; spleen: traumatic injuries, infections, hydatid disease, splenic artery aneurysms, tumors;
diseases of the male and female genital.

Fractures of the femoral and vertebral neck: epidemiology, classifications, principles of diagnosis and treatment.
Arthritic degenerative pathology of the hip, knee, spine, shoulder: etiology, clinical and diagnostic aspects, imaging diagnostics, treatment principles.

ANESTHESIOLOGY AND ANALGESIC THERAPY
General and peripheral anesthesia: basic concepts, materials and drugs for anesthesia; stages of anesthesia; preparation for surgery, anesthetic visit, operative risk; intraoperative monitoring; the anesthetic documentation; the cardiopathic patient to be subjected to anesthesia; postoperative pain: pain conduction routes, main analgesic drugs and sites of action, methods of analgesic therapy, pain management; Inhalation, intravenous, balanced anesthesia TIVA (Total Intravenous Anestesiology), TCI (Target Controlled Infusion, targeted controlled infusion anesthesia). Complications of general anesthesia and awakening. Loco - regional anesthesia: topical, plexus, subarachnoid, epidural, combined, blended anesthesia, complications and contraindications of loco - regional anesthesia

CLINICAL SURGICAL NURSING AND CLINICAL NURSING SEMINAR IN THE SURGICAL AREA Nursing assistance to the person undergoing standard surgery and for intervention in case of breast, colon, lung, pancreatic cancer: - data collection for the '' assessment in the pre and postoperative phase according to the Gordon Health Models - identification of the priority nursing diagnoses in the pre and postoperative phase for each of the surgeries taken into consideration within the module - identification of the related outcome criteria, planning of the necessary interventions and evaluation of the same - early recognition and prevention of the most relevant postoperative complications Management of a simple dressing according to the criteria of asepsis, identification and prevention of the main complications related to the surgical wound. Management of surgical drainage, types of surgical drains, their characteristics and purpose, in particular thoracic drainage, parenteral and enteral nutrition and PEG and Pej.

GENERAL SURGERY
Oral exam: 1-2 questions on the topics covered; variable duration between 15-30 minutes; the evaluation criteria are the clarity, the mastery of an examination subject, and the ability to transfer content in clinical practice.

Multiple-choice test (one correct answer out of four options). There will be 15-20 test items. Only the correct answers count.
