CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
The main objective of the course is to provide students with the basic notion to evaluate and understand the mechanism of action of drugs used in clinic. Learning of the main drug classes, of their mechanisms of action, therapeutic and side effects, will provide the rational basis for a correct and safe use of drugs in therapy.
The main knowledge acquired will be:
knowledge of therapeutic indications, side effects and the mode of administration of the most significant drugs used in medical therapy.
The main skills (that are the ability to apply knowledge acquired) will be:
To extend the knowledge acquired during the study of drug classes to clinical practice, in order to be able to dispense drugs in a conscious way and to foresee / rationally recognize side effects and drug interactions.

CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
CNS drugs: anxiolytic and hypnotic drugs, antiepileptic drugs, antipsychotic drugs,
antidepressant drugs, anti-Parkinson drugs, anti-Alzheimer drugs.
Opioids, analgesia and pain.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Cardiac system drugs: antihypertensive drugs, antianginal drugs, pharmacotherapy of congestive heart failure, anticoagulant drugs, drug therapy for hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia.
Drugs Affecting Gastrointestinal Function: Antacids, Antiulcera drugs, Antiemetic Drugs.
Bronchial asthma drugs.
Control of blood glucose drugs: Insulin, Oral Hypoglycaemic Agents.
Antineoplastic drugs.
General Principles of Antimicrobial Therapy, antibacterial drugs.

Supportive care. Cancers of gastroenteric apparatus. Lung cancer. Breast cancer. Cancers of the genito-urinary tract. Melanoma. Anemia and thrombocytopenia. Acute myeloid and lymphoid leukemias. Chronic myeloproliferative neoplasms. Myelodysplastic syndromes, lymphomas and myeloma. Chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Blood groups and transfusion therapy. Clotting tests and principal coagulopathies. Bone marrow transplantation. Emergencies in oncology and hematology.

Cardiovascular disease: atherosclerosis and its risk factors, acute coronary syndrome, acute myocardial infarction, heart failure and acute pulmonary edema: pathogenesis, diagnosis and therapy
Respiratory diseases: chronic obstructive pulmonary bronchus, pneumonia, pleurisy: etiology, diagnosis and therapy

- CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY
Written exam: 31 multiple choice questions (each with four answers). Each question is worth 1
points if correct; wrong answer or no answer 0 points. With all the correct answers you get the
praise. Allotted time: 45 minutes.
INTERNAL MEDICINE (onco-hematology)
The exam consists of a written test with 30 multiple choice questions (each with 5 response options, one of which is the correct one). For each correct answer 1 point is awarded, for each wrong answer, 0.25 points are subtracted, no response given 0 points. Any decimals are rounded to the top unit. Minimum score to pass the exam 18. Time allowed for the exam: 60 minutes
MEDICAL SEMEIOTICS and INTERNAL MEDICINE
Multiple choice test of 30 questions with 5 possible answers. Time allowed is 45 minutes. 1 point for each correct answer; -0.2 point for each wrong answer.
