Training objectives
- This course has as objective to teach the student main neurosurgical life threatening diseases, neurosurgical clinical emergencies , and their emergency treatment. The expected learning outcomes are the ability to recognize and interpret signs and symptoms of the main neurosurgical emergencies and the correct addressing of the patient to the diagnostic-therapeutic path.
Prerequisites
- Knowledge of neurological semeiotics.
Course programme
- Clinical seminars, diagnostics and treatment of acute intracranial hypertension syndrome, cerebral hernias, intracranial and intracerebral hemorrhages, subarachnoid hemorrhages, acute cerebral edema, acute hydrocephalus, acute medullary lesions, traumatic lesions of the peripheral nerves. It is planned, at the request of the student and subject to agreement, the attendance of the department and the support of the teacher during the day-care activities.
Didactic methods
- Seminars, commented videos, programmed frequency in the operating room, material on Moodle Platform, focus groups in presence.
Learning assessment procedures
- Oral exam in the teacher’s study (1C3). In the evaluation, particular importance will be given to the rigour of the arguments, the completeness of the answers,
the property of language, the ability to carry out clinical reasoning on the presented clinical cases. Reference texts
