Training objectives

To provide an updated picture on the pathogenesis and epidemiology of multiple sclerosis and of other disorders of the central nervous system demyelination spectrum
To provide an update of multiple sclerosis treatment, with regards to disease modifying treatments of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line, and symptomatic treatments. To update on the management of the multiple sclerosis patient also based on National and International guidelines and recommendations. To focus on gender differences with regard to clinical phenotype, disease prognosis, response to treatment and use in pregnancy.

Prerequisites

Having passed the exam of Neurology (integrated course of Neurology, Ophthalmology and Neurosurgery) – 5th year of degree studies.

Course programme

Update seminars on the pathogenesis and epidemiology of multiple sclerosis and other demyelinating disorders of the central nervous system, on the available disease modifying drugs (incl., efficacy, contraindications, adverse events), on symptomatic treatments, on the multiple sclerosis patient management based on national and international guidelines.

Registrations of lectures on Google Classroom platform.

Learning assessment procedures

Multiple choice test with 30 4-option questions and 1 additional question for prise.
NB: Because of the Covid19 Emergency, the final evaluation will be oral via Google Meet web platform and simultaneous for all three modules. Each evaluation will be a 15-20-minute interview in the presence of the Lecturers and of at least one additional student.
