Training objectives
- The integrated teaching of Surgery I and Dermatology includes the modules of:
General surgery
Cutaneous and venereal diseases.
The teaching of the integrated course aims to provide the basic knowledge relating to the most frequent dermatological pathologies encountered in clinical practice and to provide the knowledge for the correct anamnestic, etiological, diagnostic and therapeutic classification of benign and malignant affections of the breast, thyroid and parathyroid, melanoma.
Other educational objectives are:
knowledge of skin pathologies on an infectious, immunological, neoplastic basis;
the clinical and microbiological recognition of the main sexually transmitted diseases;
the basic concepts of dermatological therapy;
knowledge of the evolution of pathophysiological mechanisms and Italian and foreign diagnostic-therapeutic guidelines that influence the management of dermatoses.
attention to sex/gender (Gender Medicine): knowledge of the potential risks of infectious and sexually transmitted diseases on the product of conception and of the teratogenicity of drugs commonly used in the dermatological field.
At the end of the course, students should be able to:

- recognize and deal with the different pathological frameworks, using the theoretical and practical knowledge learned during the lessons.
In terms of skills:
- set up an adequate diagnostic-therapeutic process and settle between the main differential diagnoses by integrating the notions acquired in the training course Prerequisites

SKIN AND VENEREAL DISEASES
Anatomy and physiology of the skin, subcutis and adnexa. Cutaneous diseases caused by viruses (HSV,VZV, HPV, POX), bacteria (superficial and deep pyodermitis), mycetes (dermatophytosis, candidiasis, pityriasis versicolor), arthropods (insect bites, scabies, lices).
Irritant and allergic contact dermatitis. Ipodermitis. Drug reactions, erythema polymorphous, S Steven Johnson, S Lyell. Urticaria. Immunobullous diseases. Inflammatory diseases. Epidermal skin tumours. Nevi and melanoma. Cutaneous lymphomas. Sexually transmitted diseases. Burns. The skin diseases: declinations on gender and ethnicity

Frontal lessons and comment of slides of dermatological lesions all together. On-line teaching hours of moodle platform certification service: insights of some topics presented during the frontal lessons and simulated clinical cases. The teaching activity is also integrated by practical activity which consists of histological observations under an optical microscope provided to groups of students.
Practical training with small groups of students. Training in Day Service, surgical theatre, general, mycological, allergological and videodermatoscopical clinic. Practical knowledge of the diagnostic tools usually used in everyday practice

GENERAL SURGERY
Frontal lessons and on-line assisted teaching. The on-line teaching hours of moodle platform certification service consist in the insights of some topics presented during the frontal lessons and indicated by the teacher at the beginning of the course. Learning assessment procedures
- The learning verification will be carried out by a written exam consisting in 33 questions for a total duration of 45 minutes. The questions will be formulated with multiple choice questions (4 options for each question) relating to all the educational objectives of the course.
The questions will be prepared in order to verify the knowledge acquired by the student about the General Surgery (14 questions) and Skin and venereal diseases (19 questions).
Each correct answer will be evaluated 1.0 point and there will be no penalty for incorrect or not given answers. The exam mark is assigned in a scale out of thirty: 18/30 is the minimum for passing the exam, achieved by correctly answering to 18 questions, while the maximum mark, 30 cum laude, will be attributed to those who pass the score of 30.
