Training objectives
- The integrated course of Cardiorespiratory Diseases includes the modules of diseases of the cardiovascular system and diseases of the respiratory system
The teaching aims to provide an overall view of the main acute and chronic cardiovascular and respiratory diseases: from etiopathogenesis to diagnosis, therapy and clinical prognosis.
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
In terms of knowledge:
- know the main acute and chronic respiratory diseases;
-know the main cardiovascular pathologies and their prognostic repercussions;
- to identify the main diagnostic and therapeutic pathways of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.
In terms of skills:
The student will be able to:
- read an electrocardiogram
- read a blood gas analysis
- possess the basic elements of spirometry interpretation
- interpret the main cardiorespiratory signs and symptoms and then direct an appropriate diagnostic-therapeutic pathway
- set up a basic therapy for the main cardiovascular and respiratory pathologies Prerequisites

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM DISEASES: lectures and tutorials at the Respiratory Disease Unit (AOU of Ferrara) Learning assessment procedures
- The learning verification of the integrated course of Cardiorespiratory Diseases will be carried out by a written exam composed of 40 multiple choice questions (4 options of which only one is true) for a total duration of 30 minutes. The questions will be prepared in order to verify the knowledge acquired by the student about the Diseases of the Respiratory System (20 questions) and the Diseases of the Cardiovascular System (20 questions).
Each correct answer will be evaluated 1.0 point and there will be no penalty for incorrect or not given answers. The exam mark is assigned in a scale out of thirty: 18/30 is the minimum for passing the exam, achieved by correctly answering to 23 questions, while the maximum mark, 30/30 will be attributed to those who answer correctly to 39 questions; 30 cum laude, will be attributed to those who answer correctly to 40 questions.
