Training objectives
- Provide basic knowledge for reading and understanding the results of the most common clinical tests used to ascertain the patient's good health, in order to reduce the complications of dental treatment and improve the chances of success of the therapy (blood tests).
To acquire knowledge on the evaluation of the results of clinical tests: to distinguish between health and disease, to differentiate diseases, to assess severity and progression of the disease, to ensure effectiveness, side effects and possible toxicity of the therapy. Prerequisites
- Basic knowledge of biology and anatomy.
Course programme
- The cell counters for the evaluation of the corpuscular part of the blood (erythrocytes, platelets, leukocytes) and of hematocrit and hemoglobin.
Clinical analyzes for the evaluation of anemia.
The clinical markers of iron metabolism.
Diagnostic evaluation of jaundice to monitor hepatic and haemolytic pathologies.
Platelet and Coagulation Analysis for the evaluation of the patient's Haemostasis.
Plasma protein analysis to evaluate alterations in the amount of antibodies in the plasma (immunodeficiency and immune hyperactivation). Didactic methods
