Training objectives
- Students must have basic knowledge of: the wisdom teeth extraction techniques, surgical endodontics techniques; classification and treatment of cysts of the jaws; diagnosis of the main benign tumours of the oral cavity.
Prerequisites
- Knowledge of anatomy and pathology of the oral cavity and of anatomy, and physiology of maxillo-facial district. Knowledge of general and oral pathology. Knowledge of general and oral radiology.
Course programme
- Surgical disinclusion of Impacted teeth for orthodontic treatment
Impacted maxillary third molars: indications for extraction and surgical techniques
Impacted mandibular third molars: indications for extraction and surgical techniques
Germectomies
Odontogenic infections
Endodontic surgery: indications and contraindications; clinical and radiographic considerations; surgical technique.
Treatment of maxillary cysts: classification; clinical and radiographic considerations; surgical technique.
Benign tumours of the oral cavity
Discussion of clinical cases
PRACTICE WITH PATIENTS
Surgical field's and patient's preparation before surgery (instruments' choice and preparation). Anaesthesia and suture execution; execution of step by step clinical technique for tooth's avulsion. Didactic methods
- Frontal lessons. Clinical training placing side by side operators.
Clinical practical training directly executed by the students under the supervision of the tutor. Learning assessment procedures
