-Immediate loading and computer guided surgery
-Implant therapy in partially edentulous patients
-Replacement of single tooth with implants in the aesthetic zone
-Healing of the extraction socket and management of the edentulous ridge.
-Implant Maintenance and Long Term Prognosis
Implant complications

Prerequisites

It is highly recommended that each student possesses a deep knowledge of Periodontology.

Didactic methods

The topics will be discussed in seminars covering pertinent original scientific articles. The course director or the seminar coordinator will provide teaching material to the students prior to the session. ( ie.Collection of related articles, PDF of lectures and other reference material etc.). Upon presentation of pertinent literature, a sequence of working questions will be developed by the class divided in groups that , in the follow up section, will organize/expand the didactic material and will give a 10 minutes PPT presentation each, with the aim of answering the questions topic.
Discussion will follow under supervision of the seminar coordinator.
For each session a final lecture will be presented by the seminar coordinator to summarize the topic.
A practical training will include treatment planning of complex cases. A component of the course will be performed in the lab including Hands-on exsercises on: computer planning, osteotomy preparation, implant placement, immediate implant provisionalization and implant impression.
Additional ad-hoc seminars will be offered by expert clinicians.

Learning assessment procedures

Final Oral Exam
In the final oral exam the candidate will have to answer questions on slides presented during the exam related to 3 clinical cases/scenarios (2 questions per scenarios) .
The final grade will be determined by the following components: 30% on oral presentations and class participation, 30% on mid-term written examination and 40% on the final oral examination.
