PREVENTIVE AND COMMUNITY DENTISTRY
The student must acquire theoretical knowledge, practical skills and clinical criteria in the field of community dentistry.
In particular, the student will have to develop:
- knowledge relating to the demographic and epidemiological aspects of diseases both as regards prevention and therapy;
- ability to analyze the scientific documentation provided during the course;
- knowledge of the main dental pathologies in elderly patients and pregnant women
-knowledge of the main dental diseases on which a preventive therapeutic plan must be developed: dental caries, periodontal diseases and oral cancer

The student will acquire knowledge about:
-Human dentition, chronology of human dentition, dental formulae, adult and child dental anatomy, periodontal anatomy
-Cross-infection control techniques and devices, and gain familiarity with their application
-Dental prevention techniques and devices, and gain familiarity with their application
-Mechanical and chemical biofilm control techniques and devices
- Enamel lesions and their home-based and professional treatment
- Home-based and professional whitening procedures
- First contact with the pediatric patient, oral hygiene motivation of the parent and child

At the completion of the Module, the student will dispose of the necessary information with regard to:
- structure and organization of the dental office
- equipment and instruments of the dental office, their functions and daily maintenance
- patient reception, organization of the first visit and the following appointments
- communication and empathy in the relationship with the patient

- INTRODUCTION TO CLINICAL
Multiple-choice questionnaire with 31 questions and 4 answers for each question. The time available for questionnaire filling will be 60 minutes. Correct answer= 1 point, no or wrong answer= 0 points.
PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY AND COMMUNITY
Evaluation of exercises in small groups and individual , written and oral , held during the semester ; Final oral examination. You need at least score 18 to pass the exam.
DENTAL HYGIENE
Written exam: test with multiple choice. 30 questions with 4 different answers to select. Test will take 60 minutes. Score 1 will be assigned to every right answer. Score 0 will be assignet to wrong or no answer. You need at least score 18 to pass the exam.
The final grade is a weighted average of the marks obtained in each of the three exams. Reference texts
