Know the experimental-logical method applied to phenomena involving variability among individual events in the biomedical sciences.

Intelligence and problem-solving. Thinking, judgment and decisional processes. Languace, communication and behavior.

Bases of Epidemiology - Methods and aims

Epidemiological measures: Absolute risk and relative risk - importance for clinical and public health choices
Interpretation of some of the main statistical measures for the purposes of clinical and public health choices
The three steps of epidemiology
Statistical inference, confidence limits - in-depth analysis for the purposes of clinical and public health choices
Significance: statistics versus clinical
The scientific evidence and importance of the epidemiological method for research and health organization
The tools of Evidence Based Medicine: reviews, systematic reviews, meta-analyzes, guidelines and diagnostic-therapeutic protocols

Learning assessment procedures

PSYCHOLOGY
Oral examination based on the discussion of a written paper on a predetermined theme. The propriety of language, the originality of content and the appropriate use of the concepts discussed in the lectures will be assessed.
MEDICAL STATISTICS
Oral examination.
COMPUTER SCIENCES
The final exam consists in a test of 16 multiple choice questions (2 points for correct answer, 0 points if wrong or no answer) on the program topics. Duration 30 minutes.

The final grade is a arithmetic average of the marks obtained in each tests.
