Modulo: 002573 - INGLESE
------------------------------------------------------------
ENGLISH
The programme aims at developing and strengthening grammatical competence at the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for languages. The course will also cover the linguistic competence needed in the medico-scientific field. Through lectures and class exercises in English, the course provides students with a balanced knowledge of oral and written comprehension.
At the end of the course, students will be able to listen, speak, read and write fluently and accurately on various topics in the medico-scientific field.

Modulo: 53493 - METODOLOGIA STATISTICA APPLICATA IN AMBITO BIOMEDICO E CLINICO
------------------------------------------------------------
The course is intended to teach basic concepts of descriptive and inferential statistics applied to the biomedical field.
The teaching program is designed to providing the basic knowledge for interpreting the main statistical results reported in scientific evidence.
------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 53520 - EPIDEMIOLOGIA SPERIMENTALE
------------------------------------------------------------
EXPERIMENTAL EPIDEMIOLOGY
The course aims to provide tools of epidemiology useful in health planning and management with the aim to increase in the students the knowledge and the understanding in the observational and experimental studies. The ability to apply knowledge and understanding will be devoted to analysis of incidence and prevalence of diseases and to risk assessment.
------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 65396 - METODOLOGIA DELLA RICERCA IN AMBITO BIOMEDICO-FARMACOLOGICO
------------------------------------------------------------
METHODOLOGY OF RESEARCH IN BIOMEDICAL-PHARMACOLOGICAL SETTING
The course aims to improve the ability to use databanks and scientific literature to update and make better the clinical behavior of medical staff. To know the structure of clinical research and secondary and tertiary sources of information (Review and guidelines). To know the use of main databanks for biomedical data.
The main knowledge acquired will be to knowledge of main design of clinical studies and their informative role in the clinical practice. Moreover, to knowledge of main databanks of scientific literature and relative research strategy (Medline, EMBASE, CINAHL, Cochrane library).
The main skills (that are the ability to apply knowledge acquired) will be:
-classification of information and its conversion into appropriate clinical health questions (PICO);
- knowledge of how to do research in Pubmed (simple, advanced, boolean operators). Prerequisites

ENGLISH
The course is divided into two parts: 12 hours will be devoted to grammar explanations and exercises of some specific structures most-commonly used in the medico-scientific field at B2 level.
In the second part of the course,12 hours will be devoted to the reading, comprehension and translation of specialised medico-scientific texts.
A communicative approach will be used in order to encourage active student participation in class.

Teaching of the course is organized in frontal lessons. Learning assessment procedures
- EXPERIMENTAL EPIDEMIOLOGY: Multiple-choice questionnaire.
STATISTICAL METHODOLOGY APPLIED IN BIOMEDICAL AND CLINICAL CONTEXT: Written exam with closed-ended questions.
METHODOLOGY OF RESEARCH IN BIOMEDICAL-PHARMACOLOGICAL CONTEXT: The aim of the exam is to verify at which level the learning objectives previously described have been acquired. The examination is one test (multiple choice questions) constituted of 16 questions based on all the topics tackled in the class, with the aim of evaluating how deeply the student has studied the subject and how he is able to understand the basic topics analyzed. Each question is worth 2 points if correct, whilst wrong answer or no answer 0 points. To pass this test it is required to get at least 9 corrected answers and 16 right answers correspond to 30/30 cum laude.
ENGLISH: written examination; the exam is divided into two parts (Part A and Part B). The pass mark is 18 (average between the two parts). Grammar books and dictionaries are not allowed.
Part A: Grammar exercises at B2 level.
Part B: Reading of a specialised text and comprehension exercises.
Each question is given 1 point if correct; wrong or no answers 0 points. Students are allowed 1 hour for the exam.
THE FINAL GRADE IS A WEIGHTED AVERAGE OF THE MARKS OBTAINED IN EACH OF THE TESTS. Reference texts
