Training objectives
- The first experience of internship allows the student to develop his identity as an eye care professional. It starts like a path of guided observation, and it’s the first formative experience in the health workplace.
It allows the student:
- to learn the specific skills and essential rules of the professional profile
- to learn the basis skills useful to observe, identify and describe the vision system
- to familiarise with the health care setting Prerequisites
- Physically suited to perform the internship.
Course programme
- The course forecasts 75 hours, which are shaded as:
-30 hours useful to learn the Orthoptist’s professional ethics and code of conduct, to know and to familiarize with the internship organization, the professionals and the health care setting.
- 45 hours useful to learn the knowledge about the manual and automated perimetry, the physiology of binocular vision and ocular movement, the clinical and medical terminology. Didactic methods
- The module is composed by:
Guide internship. Frontal lectures. Team work. Problem based learning
The internship is done in some placement which are defined by the Orthoptics Course Council. All tutors of each placement, work togheter to planning, to management and to evaluation. Learning assessment procedures
- No exam at first semester
