Training objectives
- Through the intership of second year 1 semester the student to learn way of information receive, assessment of the orthoptics patient, ophthalmological and orthoptics techniques, methodology of functional rehabilitation and the specific clinical correlation. The student learns to reflect on clinical decision of his tutor and to consult some specific biomedical database.

The course forecasts 325 hours of internship. These are shaded as:
-225 hours of internship which are conducted on St Anna Hospital (main location of internship). These hours are useful to learn and to carry out:
-Orthoptic assessment: signs and symptom of congenital and acquired squint
-Classification and clinical features of congenital and acquired squint
-Objective and subjective methods to study the binocular vision, anomalies of convergence and divergence particular forms of strabismus
-the rehabilitative therapy of strabismus and surgical therapy
-classification of amblyopia
-the ocular drugs and their clinical use
-knowledge about the ophthalmic surgery room
-assessment of stiff neck

The Seminar "The orthoptist assistant in ophthalmology in the visuo-postural field and in Sport Vision Training" includes the following contents:
postural abnormalities related to vision: anatomical hints, the concept of posture and balance
visual function in sport
basic principles of visual training for the enhancement of visual skills in sport

The module is composed by: Guide internship. Frontal lectures. Team work. Problem based learning
The internship is done in some placement which are defined by the Orthoptics Course Council. All tutors of each placement, work togheter to planning, to management and to evaluation.

- In the first semester there is no certification exam, the student will be able to access the exam of professional training activities in the second semester, only after having completed 100% of the number of hours foreseen for the second year.
SEMINAR 2: Creation of a written work of up to 3 pages in Word format where the student will explain how to improve a visual ability of his choice in a sport of his choice through the sport vision training technique. The work will be evaluated out of thirty.
The mark of seminary will be expressed on thirtieth and it will be useful in the in the second semester which it will join to final mark. The final mark of second semester will be composed by: Practical exam of internship, Seminary 2, laboratory 2, Seminary 3. Reference texts
