Training objectives
- The objective of the course is: to complete diagnostic-terapeutic and rehabilitative path of squint patient who needed of strabismus surgery. At the end of the teaching, the student will learn the evaluation and identification capacity of strabismus residual angle and the awareness of importance of intraoperative assessment, which can be useful to adapt the surgery on the patient.
The main acquired knowledge will be:

The basic acquired abilities (that are the capacity of applying the acquired knowledge) will be:
to identify all phases of orthoptics intraoperative assessment Prerequisites
- The following concepts and the knowledge of anatomy and physiology of ocular motility and binocular vision.
Course programme
- The couse forecasts 12 hours of lectures.
Historical evolution of orthoptics patient is submitted to strabismus surgery, comparison with international literacy, our clinical experience, hint of under drop anestesia, skills od orthoptist which are used in these path (skills of management, technical and communication, pro and cons of this surgery and presentation and discussion of clinical cases. Learning assessment procedures
- One oral section of 20 minutes, where the ability of linking different subjects related is evaluated, rather than the ability of “repeating” specific topics tackled in the course.
To pass the exam it is necessary to get at least 18 point out of 30. Reference texts
