Training objectives
- The course gives basis knowledge useful to approach with wide range patients: pediatric patients (main features of children and main pathologies of pediatric ages, in particular signs and symptoms of pediatric neurological pathologies); adults and elderly patients (social psychological and clinical features) with ocular trauma, psychiatric and main general pathologies with ocular involves.

GENERAL PEDIATRICS
The module forecasts 8 hours of frontal lectures and interactive clinical cases.
Perinatal risk factors for abnormal vision and psychomotor development. Systemic and neurological pediatric disorders with eye involvement. Cerebral visual impairment and neurological disorders in infancy. Disorders of oculomotor control in children including early onset nystagmus. Congenital visual impairment: early diagnosis and interventions.

Epidemiology and causes of ocular trauma, classification of American medical association, ethio-pathogenetical classification of trauma, classification of Bett, OTS: ocular trauma score, evaluation standard of ocular trauma, physio-pathology of ocular contusion trauma, instrumental techniques for ocular trauma evaluation, orbital-lid traumatology, orbital trauma, ocular orb trauma, corneal trauma, contusion by foreign body, reparation of sclera-corneal trauma, extraction techniques of foreign body, traumatic cataracts, the contusion, burning of conjunctiva and cornea, classification of hughes roper-hall
PSYCHIATRY
The Psychiatry as a science of mental health and its application in rehabilitation, theory and clinical models in psychiatry, the most important psychiatric disorders, with specific reference at the rehabilitation context (with particular attention to mood disorders, anxiety and adjustment disorders, psychiatric disorders secondary to medical factors), psychiatric and psychosocial implications of head-neck cancer (psychoncology), the Consultation Liaison Psychiatry in the General Hospital and Medical practice, psychiatric assessment and integrated intervention in rehabilitation (counselling, psychotherapy, principles of psychopharmacology)

NEUROLOGY
Motor system: voluntary movement, anatomic and functional basis of muscular tone and reflexes. Disorders of the motor system: central paralysis, peripheral paralysis, muscular paralysis, neuromuscular transmission disorders, Movement disorders, cerebral system, somatic system, dysfunctions of sensitivity. Coma and disorders in the consciousness state. Clinical aspects of most frequent or at higher social impact neurological diseases (stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, dementia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, peripheral nervous systems affections, main myopathies).
PSYCHIATRY
The module forecasts 12 hours of frontal lectures.

CHILD NEUROPSYCHIATRY
Psychomotor development; congenital disorders of the CNS ( chromosomal abnormalities, , neurometabolic diseases, congenital structural defects ) Cerebral palsy; Neonatl hypoxic- ischemic brain injury. Mental retardation and autism. Epilepsy and Infantile convulsions.
INTERNAL MEDICINE
Epidemiology of aging. Biology of aging. Characteristics of the older patient: complexity and vulnerability.
Principles of geriatric assessment. Physical disability. Cognitive impairment, dementia and delirium. Depression
GENERAL AND SPECIALISED PEDIATRICS
Elements of auxology. Healthy newborn. Characteristics of the preterm infant. Disease of prematurity. TORCH complex infections. Respiratory infections in children: pharyngitis, tonsillitis, acute otitis media, ipoglottics laryngitis, epiglottis, bronchiolitis, pneumonia. Bronchial asthma. Meningitis. Head trauma.
Dysphagia in infantile cerebral palsy. Gastroesophageal reflux disease.
