Training objectives
- The main objective of the course is to learn the use of ophthalmologic instrumentation necessary to examine the anterior and posterior eye segments; to learn the methodology required to assist patients to be operated on. The course will also teach the use of ophthalmological instrumentation employed in surgery.

The course includes 16 hours useful for acquiring skills and knowledge relating to the assessment of the patient's refractive state with the use of particular tests and methods, such as:
- visual blurring,
- use of Jackson's crossed cylinders
- red-green test for balance
- eye dominance test.

The module includes 24 hours of lectures.
knowledge of diagnostic instrumentation for the anterior eye segment, i.e.:
ultrasound and optic pachymetry, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) for the anterior segment, slit-lamp, tonometry and auto-refractometer

The module forecasts 32 hours of lectures.
knowledge of ophthalmological techniques of instrumental diagnostic of posterior segment, which are:
retinal-coroideal angiography, OCT , ultrasound, direct and undirect ophthalmoscophy, fundus oculi exam
to apply these techniques to study the main age-related retinal-coroideal pathologies, as veins occluders, macular degeneration and ocular tumors Didactic methods
