------------------------------------------------------------
GENERAL PATHOLOGY
Understanding the main causes and mechanisms of disease, and the protective and/or pathogenetic role of the defense mechanisms of the organism (immune system, inflammation).
CLINICAL PATHOLOGY
To give basic physiopathologic knowledge about most common pathologies. To give principal informations about most common hematochemical tests. To give methods for their request and lastly to address towards the possible diagnosis.
To give basic knowledge on the immune system and the defense against pathogens; deepening: phagocytosis, antibody response, the complement, self-non self recognition, transplant rejection, pathologies due to malfunctional immune system.
GENERAL PHARMACOLOGY
To know the principles of pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics which characterize the pharmacological profile of drugs necessary for understanding the rationale behind the therapy, to ensure accurate information and a professional dispensing of medicines.
METHODOLOGY CLINICAL NURSING/SEMINAR
To apply the bifocal clinical practice of L. Carpenito-Moyet to identify and treat human responses to actual or potential health problems.
To identify nursing responsibilities in drug administration.

------------------------------------------------------------
Modulo: 015304/3 - PATOLOGIA CLINICA (mutua dall'attività formativa PATOLOGIA CLINICA - 015304/3 del CdS INFERMIERISTICA (abilitante alla professione sanitaria di Infermiere) - 1055)

Modulo: 23814 - FARMACOLOGIA
------------------------------------------------------------
The main goal of the course consists in providing basic knowledges of the mainly classes of drugs primarily used and their mechanism of action from the cellular point of view. To better understand the regulatory activity of the drugs, the therapeutic index and the toxicity will be assessed. Finally, the mechanism of action of the drugs and the main protein targets including the receptors and their transduction mechanisms will be evaluated.
The main knowledge acquired will be:
- general concepts of pharmacokinetics;
- general concepts of pharmacodynamics;
- mechanisms of drug action and correlation with different classes of the receptors;
The main skills that are the ability to apply knowledge acquired will be:
- assessment of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics factors determining the mechanisms of action and the toxicity of the drugs;
- to evaluate the cellular and molecular mechanisms of the drugs most commonly used.

Learning assessment procedures

GENERAL PATHOLOGY
Written test: 31 multiple-choice quizzes. Each correct answer is equal to 1 point while incorrect answers are not penalized. Students who correctly answer a minimum of 18 questions pass the exam. The time available is 30 minutes.
CLINICAL PATHOLOGY
Written exam with open questions: 36 multiple choice quizzes (4 possible answers, only 1 correct) of which 18 related the first part of the course and 18 the second one. Each correct answers correspond to 1 point , there is no penalty for uncorrect answers.To pass the exam the students need to respond correctly to at list 9 quiz per subject. Examination time (60 min).
PHARMACOLOGY:
written exam with 16 multiple choice quizzes lasting 20 mins.
OBSTETRIC GYNAECOLOGICAL SCIENCES
The check mode is conducted through a written test followed by an oral test. The essay consists of a questionnaire with open answers (the student for each answer has to max 10 lines available) consists of 5 questions on the following topics in order to investigate the cross-knowledge:
1. Hand washing and glove use (0-2 POINTS)
2. General Notions associated infections (0-2 POINTS)
3. Medical Surgical (0-2 POINTS)
4. Personal Protective Equipment (0-2 POINTS)
5. Sampling of body fluids (0-2 POINTS)
The test is passed only if the student scores at least 1 point for each question. The duration of the test is 1 hour. The oral examination is aimed to investigate the skills acquired by the students about the choices and the criteria for the application of knowledge in the care process on the following topics (2 questions)
Before the oral exam there is a sharing the elaborate written and possible corrections / clarifications with the student
The oral questions are investigating the following areas:
- Antiseptics and disinfectants conservation and management of the product, application choices and methods of use in nursing practice
- Decontamination and Sterilization: process management requirements and skills midwives in overseeing the entire use cycle of sterile principals
- Withdrawals Venous Arterial and Capillary: skills in managing the whole welfare process of collection.
Exam Length: 15/20 minutes
The final grade is calculated based on the average of the votes of the individual tests. The student can access to the oral exam only if the written test is passed. If the written test has failed the teacher communicates to the student to fail.
The organizational part is investigated with a questionnaire consisting of 28 multiple choice questions (5 replies to each question of which is the right one), to be done in 30 minutes. It is assigned a 1 point every right question ; considering tests failed under 24 points . In the case where the test evaluation is below the 24 points, the student has the opportunity to support an oral test.
The final grade is a weighted average of the marks obtained in each tests.
