Training objectives
- The purpose of this advanced course is to provide students with the current understanding of human biology (anthropometric and functional aspects) during the growth, development and aging process.
To develop the competences to the planning, conduction and management of the physical activity in children, adult and elderly. To increase the experience in didactic organization. The practical part of the course is proposed to supply the specific information necessary for being able to face with competence the programming and the development of setting of physical activity in children adult and elderly. Prerequisites
- Basic anthropometry. The basic elements will be defined once again during the course, so that all students can understand the lessons arguments.

. Attività motoria come promozione della salute in età evolutiva adulta e anziana.
. Le modificazioni fisiologiche del metabolismo energetico nelle diverse età.
. Le modificazioni dell'apparato muscolo scheletrico , dell'apparato cardiovascolare, dell'apparato respiratorio e del SNC.

Methods in growth and ageing studies: cross-sectional and longitudinal studies
HUMAN GROWTH
. Curves of growth. Standards of normal growth.
.Assessment of biological age (skeletal, dental, sexual age).
.Growth during puberty: changes in body composition and motor characteristics.
.Predictions of stature in adult age.
.Organization of the growth process.
.Interaction of heredity-environment in the control of growth and development.
.Anthropometric assessment of nutritional status in the child and malnutrition.
.Influence of physical activity on growth, physical and motor development.
.Characteristics of the young athletes.
HUMAN AGING
.Changes in anthropometric and functional characteristics during the aging process.
. Interaction of heredity-environment on the aging process.
. Assessment of biological age.
. Anthropometric assessment of nutritional status in elderly age.
. Age-related changes in older age: influence of physical activity.
. Characteristics of the old athletes
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND AGE
. Physical activity and promotion of the health.
. The physiological modifications of the energetic metabolism during the life.
. The modifications of the apparatus muscle-skeleton, of the cardiovascular apparatus, of respiratory apparatus and SNC .
. The programming of the physical activity. Didactic methods
- Traditional lectures, Anthropometric tutorials,gym lessons.
Learning assessment procedures
- The final mark will take into account the results obtained in each module by written and practical tests.
Written tests: two tests, one hour long, with 6 multiple choice questions and 4 open questions. 3 points max for each question till 30 points. In open questions, the clarity and comprehensiveness of the topic will be evaluated.
Practical test: all practical tests will be evaluated till 30 points.
The final score is the weighted mean of the tests results. Reference texts
