Training objectives
- Exercise in peripheral artery disease
Knowledge of risk factors for vascular disease..
Knowledge of the biochemical and structural changes induced by exercise.
Knowledge of the concepts behind functional assessment and learning the different methods in use.
Knowledge of the effect of exercise-based interventions on peripheral vascular disease of the related exercise therapy prescriptions.
Know the use of automatic defibrillators.
Define the role of physical activity in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases with particular regard to the role of exercise on cardiovascular risk factors.
Define pathophysiology and clinical signs of ischemic heart disease and the role of physical exercise in secondary prevention in patients with ischemic heart disease.
Define the principles underlying the risk of sudden cardiac death: the role of a preventive cardiology screening. Exercise in the patient with arrhythmias or with implantable cardioverter defibrillator.
Define the pathophysiology and clinical signs of heart failure and the effects of physical exercise on physical performance in patients with chronic heart failure. Prerequisites

Theoretical and practical lessons Learning assessment procedures
- The aim of the examination is to evaluate the study and the understanding of the subjects and to verify the level of achievement of the learning objectives stated.
A written test for the two courses includes 30 multiple choice questions. Questions will be related to the practical activity done during the course and to the topics discussed during frontal lessons. Each multiple choice question will include 4 possible answers of which only one is correct: it will be assigned 1 point if the answer is correct; 0 points for a wrong answer or no answer.
The time allowed for the test is 30 minutes. It is not allowed to consult texts or use PCs, smartphones, calculators, or other electronic devices.
In order to pass the test, it is necessary to obtain a score equal to or higher than 18/30.
Further details are provided during the courses. Reference texts
