Training objectives
- The aim of the course is to teach some concepts of molecular and cellular biochemistry linked to physical exercise. The signal transduction and muscle contraction, doping and health risks. Impact of the diet on sports performance. The student will learn new knowledge that will be useful in athletic training.
Prerequisites
- Chemistry and biochemistry skills
Course programme
- Muscle development and signal transduction. The role of mTOR on protein synthesis.
Pharmacological doping.
Actin/Myosin regulation. Calcium release and muscle contraction.
Muscle differentiation.
Muscle growth and regeneration.
Biochemistry of exercise and cellular adaptation.
Biochemical training. Diet and sports performance. Didactic methods
- Frontal lessons
Learning assessment procedures
- Written test with 2 open questions. Exam time: one hour.
