Training objectives
- Starting from the knowledge of mountain climate and adaptations of the human body, students will be able to understand the changes of athletic performance at altitude and the prevention of acute mountain sickness. With these knowledges, students will be able to plan and manage a correct acclimatization schedule, an adequate nutrition for performance at altitude and programs of training for high altitude competitions and competitions at sea level.
Prerequisites
- Basic of biochemistry and physics. Basic knowledge of human physiology
Course programme
- High altitude environment. Compensatory responses. Acute Mountain Sickness. History of High Altitude Physiology. Nutrition. Training. People and animals adapted to high altitude.
