Training objectives
- Students will acquire sufficient knowledge to act as a chair umpire in tennis matches organized by the International Tennis Federation, through the Italian Tennis Federation (FIT).
Students will be certified in case of success in the final test to referee matches into regional and national individual tournaments and in the team championships of all ages, and of the second, third and fourth league.
A successful final exam will enable students to attend the teaching courses of International Umpires. Prerequisites

Course programme
- Rules of the tennis and point system. How to umpire a tennis match. Faults and penalties. Practical lessons on the tennis court with semi-pro players.
Didactic methods
- Frontal lessons and on-court lessons.
Learning assessment procedures
- 30 multiple choice questions. Each question has 4 possible answers, with just one correct.
Total duration of the test: 30 minutes.
Evaluation: 1 point for each correct answer; 0 points for every missed or wrong answer.
Integrative on-court practical examinations. Reference texts
- Teacher will provide the slides for the students.
