Training objectives

To educate to the safety and diffusion of the first aid culture and of the cardiopulmonary resuscitation in the community for operators who are involved in sport activities.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology

Course programme

First Aid and legal problems
First aid interventions (Protect-Activate-Rescue) and how to access to the Territorial Emergency Medical Service 118
Assessment and first aid intervention in the following disorders:
1. deterioration of consciousness: confusional state, fainting, syncope, seizures, coma, acute hypoglycemia.
2. deterioration of breathing: dyspnea, acute asthma, hyperventilation, foreign-body airway obstruction.
3. deterioration of circulation: collapse, stroke, anaphylactic shock.
Assessment and first aid intervention of the chest pain: angina, myocardial infarction.
ADULT CARDIO-PULMONARY RESUSCITATION TECHNIQUES
(B.L.S.: Basic Life Support: practice in simulated scenarios with a manikin.)
Knowledge and abilities to be achieved at the end of the course:
Evaluation of the environmental risks
Recognition of the alarm signs of a heart attack
Concept of sudden death
Concept of cerebral anoxic injury
The chain of survival
The BLS sequence:
1.evaluation of the vital functions
2.activation of the Emergency Medical System
3.placement- lining up of the victim
4.open the airway: head tilt chin lift, removal of a foreign body only if visible.
5.mouth-to-mouth and mouth-to-mask ventilation
6.chest compressions interrupted by ventilations
7.one-rescuer rescue
8.the recovery position
9.foreign-body airway obstruction: how to recognize and manage it
PEDIATRIC CARDIO-PULMONARY RESUSCITATION TECHNIQUES
(P.B.L.S.: Pediatric Basic Life Support: practice in simulated scenarios with a manikin)
THE FIRST AID in minor traumatology:
bruises, sprains, joints dislocations, fractures, head trauma, spinal cord trauma, thoracic and abdominal trauma, wounds and bleedings, burn injuries, electrical injuries
THE FIRST AID in acute poisoning (carbon monoxide poisoning)
