Training objectives
- Cultural deepening on ideas development of physics theories, based on the phenomenology and on crucial experiments
Prerequisites
- A relative knowledge of the experimental and theoretical physics.
Course programme
- The course follow the historical development of the scientific ideas. Start from the greeks until ours days following particular paths. Different lines develop separately some times are interlaced to be unified in more complete theories The crucial experiments capable to impose the change of view, are explicitly quoted.
The course start from the evolution of ideas on the motion, until the development of the mechanics, this subject acts as the incubator of the modern science bases. The ideas on fluids, acoustic, heat, and thermodynamics, subjects related to mechanics follows. The ideas on electromagnetism radiation and optics, introduce the symmetries and the relativity theories. The study of the structure of the matter, show the introduction of the mathematics in the chemical reactions, the discovery of the chemical elements, the matter atomicity and of properties like the thermal radiation and the spectra emission of the elements, introduce the quantum mechanics. The course give also an idea on the phenomenology and theories on nuclear and subnuclear physics and on the origin and properties of the cosmics rays. The development of the ideas on astronomy and astrophysics until the big bang is shown. The course is closed with the study of the development of the technology related to the physics
