Training objectives
- At the end of this course the student will be able to know the geological structure of Italy and their main geodynamic events.
Main goal for student is to be able to integrate multidisciplinary concepts related to stratigraphy, palaeontology, petrography, structural geology and geomorphology as tool to understand the the complex framework of Italian geology and its various geological hazard. Prerequisites
- Knowledge of general geological concept studied in general course as Geology, Paleontology, Stratigraphy and Sedimentology, Petrography and Mineralogy, Geomorphology and Geophysics.

Paleogeographic reconstructions
Geophysical framework of Italy
Orogenic systems and their components
The Alpine and Apenninic orogeny
The geologic provinces of Italy:
1) Alps s.s.
2) Southern Alp
3) Northern Apennines
4) Southern Apennines
5) Calabrian-Peloritan Arc
6) Sicily
7) Sardina and Corse Block
8) Tirrenian Sea Didactic methods
- Main lectures, laboratory exercises, seminars, excursions
Dedicated software as GIS and Petrel Learning assessment procedures
- Oral final examination divided in two parts:
- a group report on a main geological province of Italy;
- an oral presentation on a restricted area of the geological province choose by the belonging group Reference texts
