Training objectives
- Introduction to the study surfaces with special regards to rational surfaces and their binational, biregular geometry.
At the end the student will be able to study and classify rational maps and surfaces. Prerequisites
- Geometria Algebrica I is recommended even if not strictly necessary.
Course programme
- The course is 42 hours long and is tought in English.
20 hours are dedicated to the theory of surfaces, intersection theory and birational modification.
22 hours are focused on rational surfaces with an introduction to Minimal Model Program and Sarkisov Theory for surfaces. Didactic methods
- Lectures and example classes. Every 4 hours of lecture there are 2 hours of example classes where students are asked to participate in exercise solutions.
Learning assessment procedures
- The student has to choose arguments in a list of talks and seminar.
The exam is an oral discussion on the topics chosen by the student.
The marking is given according to discussion's quality. Reference texts
