Training objectives
- The course aims to strengthen communication skills, even with multimedia tools, of mathematical / scientific topics; to enhance the ability to work in groups, to develop the ability to find and critically evaluate sources, to promote the knowledge of professional perspectives in the field of communication and scientific dissemination.The course also aims to provide methodological insights for the teaching of mathematics in the school.
Prerequisites
- Basic knowledge of Euclidean geometry, algebra, Cartesian geometry, calculus.
Course programme
- the following themes will be developed: relationships between mathematics and literature (4 hours), between mathematics and art (4 hours), between mathematics and cinema (4 hours), between mathematics and theater (4 hours),the relationship between science and faith in Galilean thought and the position of some popes (8 hours). How to organize an exhibition (4 hours), how to write a popularizing article on a mathematical / scientific subject, paying attention to the choice of the theme and to the target audience (4 hours). Some particularly interesting websites will be presented, and you will virtually visit some museums and exhibitions for mathematics (8 hours). The work of the students for the present year will be devoted to the development of the science of waters in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries (24 hours).
