Training objectives
- Basic knowledge of Elementary Particle Physics.
Prerequisites
- Basic knowledge of quantum mechanics and relativity.
Course programme
- Symmetries and conservation laws.
SU(3) quark model.
Electromagnetic interactions.
Weak Interactions.
Deep inelastic scattering, hadron structure.
Strong interactions. Didactic methods
- Lectures and exercise classes.
Learning assessment procedures
- A written test takes place at midterm and consists in solving exercises the first part of the course (Symmetries, Conservation laws, Quark model). The purpose of this course is to allow the student to monitor his/her preparation. The grade of the written test does not enter in the final grade.
The final examination is oral. It consists in the discussion of the content of the entire course and in solving one or more exercises. The passing grade is 18/30. Reference texts
