Training objectives
- Aim of the course is to provide the tools to:
- Modeling by means of the theory of probability and random variables;
- Data analysis by means of descriptive and inferential statistics. Prerequisites
- It is required knowledge of tools of differential and integral calculus of functions of several variables.
Course programme
- Probability and its applications in science and technology. Theory of random variables. Models of random variables. Convergence of random variables. Theory of the samples. Theory of parametric estimation. Non-parametric estimation theory. Parametric and non-parametric hypothesis testing,
Didactic methods
- Directly imparted lectures and exercises. After-lecture exercises and their tutored resolution in class.
Learning assessment procedures
- Written and oral tests at the end of the course. Partial tests during the course.
