Training objectives
- Training objectives of the course are to deepen the knowledge of the students concerning theoretical and methodological aspects of language. Students will acquire knowledge of the methodological distinctions between diachrony and synchrony. At the synchronic level, students will broaden the knowledge of syntactic principles, and theoretical aspects of semantics and pragmatics. This advanced knowledge in linguistics will allow students to develop quite independently a research in Italian, in different languages and in textual analyses with appropriate tools.

Course programme
- langues and langage: a fundamental distinction. The semiotic point of view. Comparative linguistics. Genealogical classification of languages and the Indoeuropean family. The levels of linguistic description: Phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics. Principles of generative grammar. Abstract levels in linguistic analysis. Somes note on minimalism.
Didactic methods
- regular lecture with short discussions on the data considered
Learning assessment procedures
- written. Fron twelve to fifteen open questions. One ongoing verification at the middle of the course.
