Training objectives
- To give a general view of Spanish Literature from the Eighteenth Century to the Spanish Civil War.
To provide information about some of the most significant texts of the Twentieth Century. Prerequisites
- Students must be competent in the Spanish language up to level B2.
Course programme
- To draw a general overview of the Spanish Literature from the Eighteenth Century to the Spanish Civil War.
To analyze the most important texts of the so-called "modernist rupture" in poetry as in narrative.
To examine the evolution of the poetry from Modernism to the "1927 Generation". Didactic methods
- Theorical and practical lessons.
Learning assessment procedures
- Written test. In the first section there are general questions on the history of Contemporary Spanish Literature that require a summary answer.
Conversely, the second section requires analysis of some of the passages studied in the course. Reference texts
- C. Alvar - R. Navarro - J.-C. Mainer, Storia della letteratura spagnola, Torino, Einaudi (Vol. II).
Students must choose a novel by M. de Unamuno from the following: (1) Nuevo Mundo; (2) Amor y pedagogía; (3) Niebla; (4) San Manuel Bueno, mártir.
