Training objectives
- The achievement of a linguistic proficiency in Spanish Language up to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) B2 level. Give learners an 'academic competence', enabling them to comment a text in Spanish and to write complex texts. Stimulate a contrastive reflection about Spanish and Italian grammar. At the end of the course the student can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics; he/she can speak with fluency and spontaneity. He/She can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

- Having passed the “Lingua Spagnola I” exam.
Course programme
- The course will corroborate the linguistic skills acquired in the first year. Students also receive adequate training in the written and oral skills as well as in translation from Italian to Spanish. Particular attention, with regard to grammatical content, will be paid to the following topics: use of ser y estar with adjectives; past tenses (indicative), Future tenses (simple and past) and Conditional tenses (simple and past), temporal correlations with future and conditional tenses, direct and indirect complements, possessive pronouns, use of por y para, verbs and expressions with prepositions, relative pronouns and sentences, the subjunctive tenses, differences between the subjunctive and indicative, conditional sentences, causal sentences, final sentences, temporal sentences, consecutive sentences and modal sentences, indirect style. The theoretical part, held by Prof. Giulia Giorgi, will deal with the linguistic-textual analysis of different types of texts in Spanish (descriptive, informative, interpretive, etc.). The practical classes, taught by native speakers, will aim to practice oral comprehension and expression skills and written comprehension and expression skills, through dictations, written compositions, reading texts and conversation.
Didactic methods
- The course includes presential lectures with student participation and exercises. The theoretical part, held by Prof. Giulia Giorgi, includes a theoretical introduction about the "comentario de texto" and the analysis of texts in Spanish; the lessons of the mother-tongue teachers, in presence will deepen the reading and understanding of texts, writing, oral comprehension and expression and translation.

- Students can choose one of the following types of assessment:
a) A final examination in an official date, consisting of a written test and an oral exam.
The written test (2 hours) consists of various grammar exercises (between 3 and 5, differenti types: complete, transform, correct), a linguistic-textual analysis. This assessment will be about ALL the contents of the manual and the “dispense” provided by the teacher. The analysis will have a minimum length of 300 words and must respect the subject required; the morphological and spelling correction, the use of grammatical structures studied during the course and the consistency and cohesion of the text will be evaluated in this part. The use of vocabulary is forbidden. The test will be passed (18/30) if the student shows a sufficient language proficiency in the linguistici-textual analysis and completes correctly at least 60% of the grammar exercises. The oral part will be focused on the reading book and the topics studied during lexicon and conversation classes.
b) Two partial tests at the end of each semester (generally in mid-December and in mid-May), with a final oral exam.
The contents of each part (1h and 45 minutes) correspond to the grammatical topics studied in the corresponding semester: the first test consists of various grammar exercises (between 3 and 5, different types: complete, transform, correct) and a linguistic-textual analysis; the second test consists of various grammar exercises (between 3 and 5, different types: complete, transform, correct) and a linguistic-textual analysis. The analysis will have a minimum length of 300 words and must respect the subject required; the morphological and spelling correction, the use of grammatical structures studied during the course and the consistency and cohesion of the text will be evaluated in this part. In order to access the oral examination, students must pass both partial tests; the test will be passed (18/30) if the student shows a sufficient language proficiency in the analysis and completes correctly at least 60% of the grammar exercises. The oral part will be focused on the reading book and the topics studied during lexicon and conversation classes.
If the student doesn’t pass one of the two partials, he/she will take the final exam. Those who pass the two partials, but aren't satisfied with their marks, are allowed to take the final exam in order to improve their marks. In doing so, of course, they will lose the previous marks, obtained in partials, and will get the final exam mark, whatever it is. Reference texts
