Training objectives
The course aims to provide the basic notions to face the study of Italian. Using a historical perspective, it will try to induce reflection on the structures and lexicon of the language.Prerequisites

- Notions of historical grammar and dialectology.
Bibliography relating to the study of the Italian language
Reading of texts from various periods with historical-linguistic commentary. Didactic methods
Theoretical lessons of historical grammar and dialectology will illustrate the evolution of Italian over the centuries and the progressive enrichment of the lexicon due to ethnic and cultural contacts. The reading of ancient and modern texts (literary or documentary) will allow to concretely observe the structures of the language in different eras and to learn to use the bibliographic tools (historical and etymological dictionaries, atlases, databases), necessary for a full understanding of texts themselves.Learning assessment procedures
- The oral examination will focus on the contents proposed in the lessons and on the manuals indicated in the course bibliography.
